Duals

In many games during your NFHS career, you may be faced with doing duals. This is when two referees have their whistles on their sides of the field going up and down, and calling the game as if there were two referees on the field sharing the responsibilities.

This requires somewhat of a different philosophy of moving up and down the field, getting into position in certain situations and knowing what to do in case something unique happens.

This happens in Middle School and Freshmen soccer a lot and some JV games and very few Varsity games where duals can be achieved.

Here is the PDF that lets you understand all about how duals work. However, before the start of each season, our association makes it a point to demonstrate how duals work off and on the field through multiple classes and the Referee Clinic Jamboree in January.
